Guardian Fall Prevention Window Screens
We believe kids, and all family members, should be safe in their home. Guardian window screens have been designed to meet the requirements specified in the National Construction Code for fall prevention. Like all Prowler Proof screens, Guardian is welded with no visible joints in the corners. With its fine 304 stainless steel architectural mesh, views are seemingly unrestricted. It delivers greater natural air-flow to help cool and freshen any room, and has been tested to exceed an outward force of 250NM (25kg) as required by the National Construction Code, meaning any existing window restrictions can be removed.
Fixed Window
Awning
The window pane is hinged at the top and opens from the bottom, swinging upward.
Louvre
Composed of parallel blades set in a frame, joined on a track so they tilt open and shut in unison.
Double Hung
Both sashes in the window frame are operable and move up and down.
Single Hung
One sash in the window frame is operable and moves up and down.
Double Sliding
A window that has two opening panels that slide horizontally.
Sliding
A window that opens by sliding horizontally.
Mullion
A vertical mullion allows you to have one screen on larger window openings. The mullion can either be colour matched to the frame or black to suit the infill. The mullion can be in any position you like.
Cross Brace
A horizontal cross brace allows you to have one screen on larger window openings. Choose between black to suit the infill or colour matched to the frame. The cross brace can be in any position you like.
Take a look at Guardian's features. It's the quality of manufacture, and focus on the small details that make Guardian unique. If you're looking for superior quality and functionality, look no further than Guardian screens.
Welded corners
All Prowler Proof products feature fully welded frame corners. A weld can be stronger than parts joined by a screw or rivet. It looks better too. The weld means the screen looks like it's made in one piece. You will immediately notice the difference when you compare Prowler Proof with a product that is held together by screws or rivets.
Qualicoat accredited powder coating
Prowler Proof is one of only 10 powder coating applicators in Australia to be approved by Qualicoat International. Qualicoat is an international benchmark of quality. Qualicoat International audits Prowler Proof’s powder coating line twice a year, to allow us to retain our certification. The powder coating is a key element in the appearance of a screen. The long term benefit of choosing a Qualicoat certified screen is superior corrosion protection – as evidenced in the fact that Prowler Proof is the only screen to pass the acetic acid salt spray test and the only manufacturer to offer a 10 year replacement warranty.
304 stainless steel mesh
The high quality black powder coat on the mesh provides excellent resistance to corrosion. The 1.3mm aperture and 44.8% open area means Guardian provides excellent visibility and airflow. While 304 stainless steel mesh is .6mm diameter wire, it is ultra high tensile giving the mesh its strength to ensure it passes the requirements of the National Construction Code for fall prevention.
Maximum transparency
Guardian's mesh design ensures maximum visibility through the screen. Your views of outside will not be impeded by your screen.
Full perimeter bond
An adhesive is used to join the mesh to the frame. The frame is designed with special grooves that ensure when the adhesive is set you get both a mechanical and chemical bond. The adhesive is also used in other extreme applications such as aerospace and motorsports, where reliable bond through all sorts of conditions is required. The use of adhesives eliminates the corrosion associated with dissimilar metals joining, such as the joining of steel with aluminum. The use of adhesive as bonding material does not produce any deformation in the materials, improving the aesthetics of the product.
Full replacement warranty
All Prowler Proof product is covered by our 10 year replacement warranty. It's Australia's only screen replacement warranty and means you will get a brand new product if something goes wrong with your screen.
Prowler Proof Guardian screens have been purpose designed, as a non-security barrier solution, to meet the National Construction Code requirements for fall prevention and complements ForceField seamlessly for a integrated solution. Not only has it been tested to exceed an outward force of 250NM (25kg), it also meets the BAL-LOW to BAL-40 requirements for bushfire prone areas and is a great option instead of insect screens for homes with pets that might need a more robust solution.
Bushfire
Bushfire prone zones require that openable windows must be screened with corrosion-resistant steel, bronze or aluminium mesh with an opening of less than 2 mm x 2 mm (AS 3959-2009).
Corrosion
Whenever two different metals interact there is a risk of corrosion. The tests (AS 2331.3.2 and AS 2331.3.1) to show corrosion-resistance are the acetic acid salt spray test and neutral salt spray test.
Insect Protection
The mosquito protection test tests a screens ability to keep mosquitoes out over an extended period of time.
Fall Prevention
The National Construction Code (NCC) (BCA 2013) requires that window openings be either restricted or screened, in certain circumstances, to prevent children falling. Screens that resist an outward horizontal action of 250 N meet the code and mean that window restrictors, that prevent the window being open more than 125mm, can be removed. Screens that have been tested and passed AS5039/5040 are deemed to comply with NCC requirements. Barrier screens must either be type tested in a NATA certified testing facility, or tested onsite by the installer.
