Protec Security Doors and Security Window Screens
Built in our hi-tech factory as an all-aluminium design with Prowler Proof’s famous welded, seamless corners. The mesh is a single aluminium sheet, perforated and powder coated to the high standards you’d expect from Prowler Proof. The perforations are exactly the right size – small enough to keep insects out, big enough to allow excellent airflow and transparency. The mesh is joined to the heavy duty aluminium frame in a process unique to Prowler Proof. Protec security screens are strong and good looking. The frame comes in over 300 colours to suit the black mesh.

Take a look at Protec's features. It's the quality of manufacture, and focus on the small details that make Protec unique. If you're looking for superior quality and functionality, look no further than Protec.
Welded corners
All Prowler Proof products feature fully welded frame corners. A weld can be stronger than parts joined by a screw or rivet. It looks better too. The weld means the screen looks like it's made in one piece. You will immediately notice the difference when you compare Prowler Proof with a product that is held together by screws or rivets.
Qualicoat accredited powder coating
Prowler Proof is one of only 10 powder coating applicators in Australia to be approved by Qualicoat International. Qualicoat is an international benchmark of quality. Qualicoat International audits Prowler Proof’s powder coating line twice a year, to allow us to retain our certification. The powder coating is a key element in the appearance of a security screen. The long term benefit of choosing a Qualicoat certified screen is superior corrosion protection – as evidenced in the fact that Prowler Proof is the only security screen to pass the acetic acid salt spray test and the only manufacturer to offer a 10 year replacement warranty.
Perforated aluminium
Protec uses 1.81mm thick, black powder coated, perforated aluminium sheet. With perforation diameters of just 2.5mm, the holes in the perforated aluminium sheet are too small to get through – even for mosquitoes, and with an open area of 39.2% Protec is still easy to see through and allows the breeze in for ventilation. Protec security doors and windows will also help keep solar heat and UV light out during summer – and reduce heat loss in winter.
High transparency
Protec's mesh design ensures high visibility through the screen, as the perforations are small enough to keep insects out, but large enough to allow excellent airflow and transparency.
Concealed fixing interlocks
Our custom designed interlocks are exclusive to Prowler Proof, and are currently available for single sliding and stacking doors. By choosing these interlocks it means you will have no unsightly fixing screws, and also your door will be more tamper resistant, as the recessed fixing channel makes it harder to get pliers in around the screw heads. Ask your dealer about these interlocks.
Full perimeter bond
An adhesive is used to join the mesh to the frame. The frame is designed with special grooves that ensure when the adhesive is set you get both a mechanical and chemical bond. The adhesive is also used in other extreme applications such as aerospace and motorsports, where reliable bond through all sorts of conditions is required. The use of adhesives eliminates the corrosion associated with dissimilar metals joining, such as the joining of steel with aluminum. The use of adhesive as bonding material does not produce any deformation in the materials, improving the aesthetics of the product.
Full replacement warranty
All Prowler Proof product is covered by our 10 year replacement warranty. It's Australia's only screen replacement warranty and means you will get a brand new product if something goes wrong with your screen.

The six separate tests comprising the Australian Standards Security Test (AS 5039) were all passed with ease. The 1,000 hour neutral and acetic acid salt spray tests (AS 2331) were not much of a challenge either. Mosquitoes and other insects are kept outside thanks to the fine holes in the solid aluminium sheet. Only fresh air and daylight gets past Protec…
Security
The Australian Standards (AS 5039-2008) test consists of six separate tests that all have to be passed by the same test sample. The tests include dynamic impact test, jemmy test, pull test, probe test, shear test and knife shear test.
Energy & UV Light
Screens provide ventilation but can also keep solar heat and UV light out during summer, and reduce heat loss during winter. WERS testing and testing to the European Standard (EN 14501) show the reduction in solar heat and damaging UV light, and reduction in heat loss, provided by the screen.
Corrosion
Whenever two different metals interact there is a risk of corrosion. The tests (AS 2331.3.2 and AS 2331.3.1) to show corrosion-resistance are the acetic acid salt spray test and neutral salt spray test.
Insect Protection
The mosquito protection test tests a screens ability to keep mosquitoes out over an extended period of time.
Access Control
Allow unassisted access for pets or people, through the addition of optional access control accessories, such as keying locks alike, pet doors for family pets and solid panels for easier wheelchair accessibility.
Fall Prevention
The National Construction Code (NCC) (BCA 2013) requires that window openings be either restricted or screened, in certain circumstances, to prevent children falling. Screens that resist an outward horizontal action of 250 N meet the code and mean that window restrictors, that prevent the window being open more than 125mm, can be removed. Screens that have been tested and passed AS5039/5040 are deemed to comply with NCC requirements. Barrier screens must either be type tested in a NATA certified testing facility, or tested onsite by the installer.
