Screen doors Brisbane: security, insect and outdoor room options explained

“Screen door” can mean a few different things — and picking the wrong one is a common (and expensive) mistake. Miza Home Security is a Prowler Proof Certified Dealer based in Eight Mile Plains, fitting all three types across Brisbane and Logan for over 20 years. Here’s how to tell which one you actually need.

Which type of screen door do you need?

A security screen door — tested and compliant to AS 5039, with a triple-point lock. If you want an entry door that genuinely resists forced entry, this is what you need. See our dedicated guide: security doors Brisbane.

An insect (flyscreen) door — keeps bugs out, lets airflow in, no security rating. Common on back doors, laundry entries, and anywhere you want ventilation without turning it into a security upgrade.

An outdoor room or patio enclosure screen — larger sliding or stacking screens that enclose an alfresco area or patio, giving you a bug-free outdoor space without walling it in.

If you’re not sure which applies to you, the short version: if it’s protecting an entry point you lock at night, go security. If it’s about comfort and airflow, insect or outdoor room screens are the better (and cheaper) fit.

Every type of screen door, one installer

Security doors, insect screens, outdoor room enclosures and repairs — we don't push you toward whichever product is easiest to sell, we help you pick the right one for what the opening actually needs.

Mesh and colour matched to your home

From pet-safe polyester mesh to micro fibreglass gauze, and over 300 powder-coat colours through our Dulux and AkzoNobel partnership, your screen doors don't have to look like an afterthought.

We still turn up for the small jobs

Remeshing an old flyscreen door or fixing a sagging roller doesn't always need a full replacement — if a repair will do the job, that's what we'll recommend.

Insect and flyscreen doors

Prowler Proof’s Insect range is what we install most often for non-security screen doors, and it’s a step up from the flyscreen doors sold at most hardware stores:

  • Welded corners, robotically welded rather than screwed or riveted — this is the main reason Prowler Proof Insect flyscreen doors outlast cheaper alternatives; there’s no joint to work loose over time.
  • Gauze choice — standard high-quality fibreglass gauze as the default, a micro fibreglass gauze if you want to keep out even the smallest insects (useful near creeks or bushland), or a pet-safe polyester mesh if you’ve got cats or dogs that test the screen daily.
  • Colour matching — over 300 powder-coat colours through Prowler Proof’s partnership with Dulux and AkzoNobel, so your flyscreen door doesn’t have to look like an afterthought next to the rest of your home.

Outdoor rooms and patio enclosures

For alfresco areas, patios and outdoor entertaining spaces, sliding and stacking insect screens let you close off the space from bugs without losing the open-air feel — practical for Brisbane’s warmer months when you want the doors open but not the mosquitoes in. These are measured and fitted the same way as our other screens: on-site, custom to your opening.

Repairs and remeshing

Old flyscreen doors are one of the most common repair jobs we get called out for — sagging frames, torn or stretched gauze, rollers that have seized up. If your existing screen door (ours or someone else’s) isn’t sliding smoothly or the mesh has had it, we can remesh or repair it rather than requiring a full replacement.

A standard screen or flyscreen door is built for insect protection and airflow — it won’t resist forced entry. A security door is tested and compliant to AS 5039, with a triple-point lock, and is built to actually stop someone getting in. They can look similar from a distance, which is exactly why it’s worth checking before you buy.

Yes — we install a pet-safe polyester mesh specifically designed to handle scratching and everyday wear from cats and dogs, which holds up far better than standard fibreglass gauze under that kind of pressure.

Yes, we service and repair existing screen doors regardless of who installed them — remeshing, roller replacement, and frame adjustments are common jobs.
