Built to Australian Standards, not just styled to look secure
A lot of screens sold as “security” in Brisbane have never actually been tested. AS 5039.1:2023, the current Australian Standard, requires independent testing by a NATA-accredited lab across six key areas:
- Dynamic impact — simulates a forceful kick or body impact against the screen.
- Jemmy resistance — tests resistance to being levered away from the frame with a tool.
- Knife shear — simulates an intruder attempting to cut through the mesh with a blade.
- Pull – simulates an intruder attempting to pull a screen, particularly a diamond grille out.
- Probe – simulates an intruder finding a gap large enough to reach through and unlock the door.
- Corrosion resistance — ensures the screen and frame hold up in Queensland’s humidity, storms and coastal air.
Every Prowler Proof product we install carries a compliance sticker confirming it’s passed these tests — ask to see it, and be wary of any installer who can’t produce one.

A security screen refers to fixed or hinge window screens; a security door covers hinge and sliding doors. Both need to meet the same AS 5039 standard to genuinely be called “security” products — the distinction is about where they’re fitted, not how they’re tested.
It depends on range, size and accessories — as a guide, a standard hinge security door with a triple-point lock typically runs $750–$1,600 installed depending on the Prowler Proof range you choose. There’s no such thing as a standard size, so every job is custom-measured. We offer a free, no-obligation in-home measure and quote.
On-site fitting is usually quick — a single door in a few hours, a full-home job in a day. The main factor is the manufacturing lead time between your measure and install day, since every screen is custom-made to the millimetre. We’ll confirm a firm timeframe at your quote.
Genuinely compliant. Every screen and door we install is tested to AS 5039.1:2023 and fitted to AS 5039.2, the installation standard — with a compliance sticker to prove it. We’re a Prowler Proof Certified Dealer, QBCC licensed, and an NSSA member.
